Thanks for the post, plep! I didn't know about the blockade of Kathmandu.
Obviously it is not as important to, say, CNN as stories like "Goodfellas cast reunites for dinner".
(To be fair to CNN, if you go to the "World" page on CNN.com, there is a link to a story about the Kathmandu blockade at the bottom of the "Asia" section.)

Wow. A couple years ago, when bumming around Europe, I was toying pretty seriously with the idea of wandering through Nepal for a few weeks. While doing the planning,t here were murmurs of these Maoist Rebels making the odd strike and raid off in the hills, but it didn't sound all that serious. I guess with the government likely still reeling from the last number of years in upheaval, those crazy Maoists have gained some significant footholds...
