Unlike the Confederacy's CSS <em><a href="http://www.thehunley.com/">Hunley</a></em>, the USS <em><a href="http://www.sanctuaries.noaa.gov/alligator/history.html">Alligator </a></em>never saw action, but it's historically significant nonetheless.
