This goes to show that lots of challenge in AI is in speaking naturally, and on the internet most people speak like idiots, so you can sort of cheat around a lot of things.

Thanks for the link, Pretty_Generic, I've been lurking for centuries and never imagined my baby would appear on the front page, much less end up on like 20 different sites... It's amazing how quickly things travel.
Version 2.0 is in the works, completely rewritten using ALICE AIML code (Alice is a lot closer to real AI than Eliza is) and will be modular, so one could program an interface for AIM or ICQ, not just IRC. Think of the fun we'll have.
