State Blogs As a companion to the Blogs around the world project, Oscar Jr. posted the Blogs around the US project. His point/focus being blogs that focus on the US states in which they reside. All of this as a lead up to Big Sky Blog. A blog by Montanans, about Montana, a project of our own davidmsc. (Whoops, USAfilter. Miguel's gonna be pissed ...)

Well, on one hand there is a link to a Portuguese Blog from the BATW site, but on the other hand, it doesn't come up at the moment, and the info on Portugal is from the CIA factbook, so...

As for the states, Utah seems to be unrepresented.

Wow, Wulgar! - great post! Double exclamation marks are in order. Montana is such a dream.

I think one of the great problems with us Europeans is that we don't realize how big and varied a country the U.S. is. A second, related problem is that we only know the distinctive characteristics of, at most, 3 or 4 states. This is a great help.

We're on the same ticket, buddy! :)

Michigan's one listing seems to be a Republican talking points mem... er, blog, instead of one supposedly posting about the state. Oh, wait, there is a link to the Detroit News under "local paper" way at the bottom there. Never mind, my bad.

(blushes) Thanks for the Pepsi mention, Wulfgar! And Miguel -- I appreciate your comment about how big & varied the US is...Montana is a perfect example of that -- larger than many countries, but less than one million people in our entire state. Makes for loooooong roads, but friendly people.

amen to that, miguel. i was flabbergasted when i realised i had to sit more than six hours on a plane to go from one coast to the other. btw, same point probably counts even more for canada.

Michigan's one listing seems to be a Republican talking points...

All of the Minnesota blogs (not counting the one that's offline) and all of the Massachusetts blogs are also avowedly tilted to the right, and don't give me much feel for life or even blogging in those states. It kind of sucks the fun out of browsing to discover things, as suggested.

Hey, the Montana blog is cool though. Can anyone point to more like that? I've just moved to a Minnesota community apparently run by a blogging mafia (even the Chief of Police blogs).

All but one of the TX links seem to be that way too. Is this more of a state-by-state roundup of conservabloggers?
