Call me a party pooper but I found that pretty laughable. Seemed more like handbangers that do the a few belly dance moves than people belly dancing to metal music.

You kidding, etc? Showgirls is the new Rocky Horror. It redefines sucktacular for a new generation of insomniac geek-sluts addicted to in jokes. It gets five stars for lousiness, and these dancers clearly have that spirit in 'em. Here we are! Rock us like a Hurricane!

I WORSHIP SHOWGIRLS now get out of my way, you're blocking the screen... I just wish any of my friends did. I seem to be the only one in on the joke. I loved this! I only watched one video, but it seemed to me they were keeping their tongues firmly planted in cheek, rather than trying to create a new art form. Which isn't to say they don't take it seriously or enjoy it. In fact, more the latter, I'd say. It's fun for them, and it appears that way to the audience, in my humble estimation.

There's a lot of belly dance hybridization happening these days. Check out Electro Exotica and Tribal Infusion for other examples. Also: I've heard rumors of a goth bellydancer in Seattle, but can't find a link.
