This is good and fun, but please, please, please remember that this is the work of a few, not representative of the many. Japan doesn't fetishize everything with icons of little girls... well not everything....

Holy crap, I can't belive metafilter is considered the opposite of Little Green Footballs. The amount of hate on that site is simply unbeliveable, the only "opposite" I could think of would be all those arabic pro-jihad sites out there.
Or at least it was, untill I deleted that part of the entry.

Apparently tan is the baby-talk version of -chan, which is a diminutive alternative to -san, as an honorific name ending.
