Grand Unification Theory: Salavon's work has been mentioned on MeFi before, but I thought in honor of the trilogy finally being released on DVD this week, I'd post a link to this very awesome piece of art using every single frame from Episode Four.

Star Wars is 121 minutes long, the special edition is 125 minutes. This image is 750px on a side. at 4:3 aspect ratio, this image measures 75 x 100 frames (roughly). That's one frame per second. This image would have to be 24 times larger to include every frame. I couldn't resist being a jerk. So nyah nyah!

Each of these prints contains one frame per second of an entire film arranged in a dense grid. This grid is ordered not by the narrative, but by the overall luminosity as the films are rearranged and represented in their entirety as abstractions. Also for fans of music videos, Playboy, yearbooks, and even Deep Throat. I do agree, however, that this is much more souveneir-shop novelty than it is art, but then maybe that's the point.
