Okay, since soyjoy wants to take it all serious-like.... The fact that the M&M guys scored so overwhelmingly, that a sports personality like Jeter is on the list, and that none of the great slogans/characters/spokespeople of the past are anywhere to be seen speaks to the evanescence of advertising in our collective pop-culture saturated brains. We can go on at length for the missing giants like "Where's The Beef" and Speedy Alka-Seltzer, but what's the point? Our memory for advertising barely remembered Tony the Tiger because he lingers on in ads today.

And I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say...Derek Jeter?!? Well, it is New York - I'd imagine he has a handful of fans there. I heard a nasty rumor that Jeter swallows. I heard a nasty rumor he went 5 for 8 over the weekend against the Pawtucket,... I mean the Boston Red Sox. And a second vote for "Ancient Chinese secret." As runners-up I'd consider "Gee, your hair smells terrific." and "I can't believe it's not butter."
