This is very cool. I may almost be smart enough to make some use of this. You are right about the manual.
On a related note, what are the general preferences for referring to colors these days? Hex or RGB? I'm including color details in a set of metadata files about new spatial data my office is publishing and want to make it as clear as possible. So, of course, I will probably use both.
