Tattoo my head with anything anti-Bush! An interesting interview with someone that put their skin on eBay for an anti-Bush tattoo, but instead of the $10,000-30,000 price tags, her no-reserve auction started at one cent and only ended at $103.50. The final product kinda works no matter who wins, but still, a hundred bucks probably didn't cover the ink, let alone the commitment. Remember the Howard Dean tattoo? How far would you go for your candidate?

Its an interesting idea, stupid, but interesting.

And what did she do with the money? Paid the tattooist (who happens to be her husband), bought some beer, paid part of a bill (don't want to get them bill collectors thinking they get all the money all at once, heck no!) and bought a present for her kids.

Its just so touching. Just don't ask me what its touching.

Very strange I guess. If I were going to supply any skin for an anti-anything tattoo I'd at least want it to be obvious in 10 years what it was for. A crossed out W wearing a hat doesn't really cut it in my opinion. When I've got grandchildren and George W Bush is just a historical footnote as a guy who left skid marks on the constitution I would want them to understand the reason and meaning for the tattoo whether or not they agree with it.

I am embarrassed to say, as I may be one of three people on the entire planet that actually find John Kerry attractive. Since I am married, however, the point is moot.

Nope, not even interesting. Just stupid. Personally, I think it's more important just to get people out there to vote. Bush's base is a small minority of the population, but a larger percentage of the voters.

Screw the cantidates, for enough money I'll tattoo anything on my head. Note, I mean enough money, not just some.

Why the back of her head and not her forehead?

I can't believe Kottke got a tattoo like that.

I would love to walk out of the booth with some pollster asking me why I voted, and I'd reply, "Issues? Policies? Nah dude, I saw this wicked tattoo..."

That whole idea is pretty stupid IMHO... who in their right mind would let someone else decide what's going to be tattooed on their own skin, lasting beyond their own lifetime?

She's going to feel real stupid when she eventually has a kid nicknamed W who likes cowboy hats.

she? oh. sorry, kottke. I only looked at the picture. I thought it was you.

...kinda works no matter who wins...

I guess so, in that she can continue to be anti-Bush even if he wins, but otherwise it makes little sense. What else would a crossed out W in a cowboy hat mean? She hates the Big W Ranch?

She decided : Kerra: My husband, Shane Dunkleburger (the tattoo artist), and I came up with the design. The cowboy hat was my old man’s idea. I thought it’d help get across the Bush meaning but now I’m getting people in town asking if the tattoo means “No Westerns”. It’s starting to make me ill! Like I wasted the space by doing something over people’s heads. It doesn’t seem that tricky, does it?

This is stupid. If, in 10 years, Bush has a change of heart, this tattoo won't be going away.

Tattooing anything political or extremely personal (say, a girldfriend's name) is the dumbest thing you can do, IMHO. You can change your opinion, but not your tattoo.

Better to get something tattooed that you won't regret in the future.

I express my disdain for Bush every time I go defecate.

No need for a tattoo
