how the heck did they get the DNS working so quickly?

What a zinger!

That or the plutonium/enriched uranium mix-up FIASCO! HA! Because as everyone knows, enriched uranium bombs are deadly-serious, while simple plutonium bombs are mostly harmless.

I'm still waiting for someone in the UK to do a nice mashup using Bush's stuttering, stumbling "style".

o2b: I was thinking the same thing, according to whois it looks like it was just registered last night.

Civil_Disobedient: There's a song Let's roll by Jonny L that samples him, but it seems to correct the timing making him seem more coherent.

Is this something you need to have a TV to get? Because I don't have one. :)
posted by hughbot at 2:11 PM on October 1, 2004

actually looking at www.jonnyl.net under previews it seems like there's a let's roll (the revenge) feature the extremely deluded dude. How come he's not in a Jack in the Box commercial by now?

that's the fastest DNS resolution i've ever seen... dang...
posted by moonbird at 2:24 PM on October 1, 2004

Well, that may not be the best of the web, but it's sure the funniest damn thing I've seen all day.
posted by Outlawyr at 2:34 PM on October 1, 2004

Oh come on dudes it's like whacking a baby seal ..and btw Poland sent more or less 2000 soldiers, brave and valorous and not completely useless , not mentioning the 32 from Estonia, they make a world difference. It's quite obvious that when one compares the minor armies to the more or less 120-130000 americans any other army looks insignificant.

They still are part of coalition of the willing, even if their support is (comparatively) quantitatively close to 0, the quality of their troops vastly makes up for the quantity I think. Obviously being little countries they can't send 100K troops, but they care about freedom.

Of course you can enlist right now so we'll be able to make up for the difference. Ask to be trained and sent directly to Iraq as demand for volunteers is forever high, expecially in this moment.
posted by elpapacito at 2:37 PM on October 1, 2004

Mexedmissages.com/net/org also registered already.
posted by Hlewagast at 2:43 PM on October 1, 2004

Yeah, I was more impressed with the dns resolving so quickly than anything else.
posted by adampsyche at 2:53 PM on October 1, 2004

Huh, WTF? He certainly mentioned Poland:
"My opponent says we didn't have any allies in this war? What's he say to Tony Blair? What's he say to Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland. I mean you can't expect to build alliances, when you denigrate the contributions of those who are serving side by side with American troops in Iraq."

WTF?

So I guess this means PP didn't watch the debates.
posted by Outlawyr at 3:06 PM on October 1, 2004

Mick - Network Solutions may have updated it already, but unless everyone else has lowered their TTL from 2 days, it theoretically shouldn't have propagated yet. Weird.
posted by TungstenChef at 3:08 PM on October 1, 2004

Oops, I realized immediately after posting that you can't have a TTL if there isn't already a DNS record. Still, it's really strange that it's up already, the quickest I've seen that happen is about 36 hours.
posted by TungstenChef at 3:12 PM on October 1, 2004

i think its funny that everyone calls Paris, PP now

"So I guess this means PP didn't watch the debates."

Exactly what I was thinking.

Hey, PP... watch the debate!

If you pay close attention, you'll even see where Kerry says something nice about Israel and their security too... Mmmm. Israel!

President Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland: "They deceived us about the weapons of mass destruction, that's true. We were taken for a ride."
posted by rajbot at 3:38 PM on October 1, 2004

Given PP's well-known loyalties it's not surprising he didn't watch the debate... I would myself shrink from watching the slow-speed train wreck that is Bush attempting to think on his feet, were he my favored candidate.
posted by clevershark at 3:38 PM on October 1, 2004

I think Kerry was talking about countries actually involved in the invasion (rather than the occupation). Poland has a fairly major role in iraq (and a couple thousand soldiers) now, but only had a couple dozen or so involved in the invasion.
posted by kickingtheground at 3:38 PM on October 1, 2004

"i think its funny that everyone calls Paris, PP now"

I think I was the one who started it, over a year ago. I'm proud of that.

At least he can't complain that we don't treat him like he's #1...
posted by insomnia_lj at 3:41 PM on October 1, 2004

Oh, Kerry didn't mention Poland.

Of course I watched it; actually, I listened to it while doing other work.

But I'm not going to tell you what I think because I didn't get enough personal e-mail requests--HA!
posted by ParisParamus at 4:05 PM on October 1, 2004

I wish PP wasn't a derivative of ParisParamus. But I am so proud of my moniker--it was, orginally the title for a film I was going to make-- that it doesn't matter.
posted by ParisParamus at 4:08 PM on October 1, 2004

From what I understand, Poland was not in fact part of the original invasion force, but only sent troops later (correct me if I'm wrong). Secondly, see the quote from the president of Poland above -- Bush may not have heard it, mind you, but he's lucky he got away with bringing up Poland without Kerry zinging him with that.
Of all the dumb Bush lines from the debate, "you forgot Poland" is certainly in the top 5.
posted by uosuaq at 4:28 PM on October 1, 2004

Er...so who forgot Poland?
posted by Orange Goblin at 4:41 PM on October 1, 2004

That was the funniest bit... Kerry played dumb and trolled Bush so perfectly. You could see the bite coming. After Bush named Tony Blair and Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland, Kerry responded by saying it wasn't a true international coalition with just Tony Blair.

Bush responded YOU FORGOT POLAND
posted by holloway at 4:44 PM on October 1, 2004

Would that be the same Poland which affirms that it was deceived over Iraq and seems to have one foot out the door already?
posted by clevershark at 5:09 PM on October 1, 2004

But I'm not going to tell you what I think because I didn't get enough personal e-mail requests--HA!

It's ok, Paris. There were so many Bush supporters who were surprisingly honest in their appraisal of his (non-)performance that your usual trolling technique wouldn't really have worked anyway. Better luck next time!

No no...the other Poland, from MagicalBushWorld. You know, the Poland that's cheering us on as we go from success to success in Iraq.

So I guess this means PP didn't watch the debates.

He doesn't need to. He's voting for Bush because Kerry is bad looking. (If he ever found out there were OTHER canidates for President, well, having to look at all the pictures would take away from his posting to MetaFilter time.)
posted by rough ashlar at 5:33 PM on October 1, 2004

Poland is integral to Dubya's new advertising campaign!
The Poor Man can now reveal that, his confidence buoyed by his strong performance in Thursday's debate, George W. Bush has fired all of his political advisors, pollsters, and media analysts, and will now be bringing his message directly to the people.
posted by Zurishaddai at 5:43 PM on October 1, 2004

The President deserves at least a golf clap for remembering the name of Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, thus (in this matter) exceeding expectations.
posted by clevershark at 6:13 PM on October 1, 2004

Poland's new marketing slogan: Unforgettable.

Bush is one funny monkey. Watching him squirm as Kerry used all those big words and facts was quite satisfying.

The best thing about this line is that you know all the redneck dumbfucks in the world who were drinking beer and rooting for Bush know nothing about Poland except 8,103 Polack jokes.

Bush: You can't change positions all the time
redneck: Yeah! Motherfuckin' changing p'sishuns alla time!
Bush: It's hard work
redneck: That's right, hard work, faggot!
Bush: You're forgetting Poland.
redneck: Yeah, we love them Polacks! uh--wait, what'n the hell'd he jest say?

Of course, this assumes that these gorillas are able to connect "Poland" to "Polack," which is kind of a stretch, I know.

Being part Polish, I was going to write the President to thank him for remembering Poland. Saddly, the lightbulb in my office went out last night and I couldn't find enough people to turn the ladder to help screw it back in. The solar powered flashlight wasn't working last night, either. So I guess I'll have to wait!
