Creator of MetaFiler: Wedding Bliss, As Matt's Brother, I can report to all here at MetaFilter, the Wedding went as picture perfect as they imagined!
No rain, Everybody was in time for the ceremony, Lucky no Television Reporters crashing or blocking streets, No helicopters hovering above.
It was a beautiful, simple gathering of friends and family

aw, hell...need I say it? Much love to the both of you. Do your damndest to be extra-kind to each other over the years. (sigh) posted by Optamystic at 4:39 AM on October 8, 2000
Ah, I envy the two of you. The ability to exhale, not having to worry about caterers, not wanting to throttle family members as they ask you if they can bring the 16 members of their bridge club to the wedding... *sigh*. I'll get there one day.
Best wishes to the both of you, and I'll close with one of my tips for a happy marriage (given to me by my mom and dad who have been married for 48 years): always greet the each other when you come home in the evening.
(I don't get it either, but who am I to argue with 48 years?) posted by likorish at 7:09 AM on October 8, 2000

likorish: oddly enough, I think your parents had a very good idea there.
congratulations mathowie! I can't think of anything schmaltzy and congratulatory to say that wouldn't sound sarcastic coming from me, but please be assured that, if I knew how to say it, I would :-)
cool. i have to do this in 5 days and 16 hours so it is reassuring to see that it CAN work out well (and have only had to threaten litigation with one of our catering/vendor people, so far :) posted by MattD at 7:57 PM on October 8, 2000
Best of luck to them. :0)
