You're now connected to FREE Wi-Fi courtesy of the City of Spokane.

Wow, that's impressive reception.

Spokane is also a nice place if you want to build your own electric car.

That was interesting. This is the first I had heard of this phase array wifi transmitter. It does seem unreasonable cheap too. It would be great if more places did this. Think Boston Common or NYC Central Park. Or small town America just overlaid with one of these.

You can get a Vivato transmitter for under $10,000, plus maintenance and bandwidth costs.

Is that it? I wonder what the maintenance charge is.

It is really a shame that this thread appears to have been overlooked while everyone jumps on the Bush is dumb bandwagon again.

Great post homunculus. Thanks

Hmmm, a3matrix - I wonder what kind of permit you have to get to run one of those. $10k really isn't that much, in the grand scheme of things, and I can think of a few places on Capitol Hill suitable for mounting one...

Spokane is a great place. I lived there for 15 months about a decade ago and I still miss the place.

I work in Spokane quite often and I've taken frequently advantage of the hot-zone. I hope more cities follow suit.
