He might stick with it for another day or two, but I'd bet at this point he's getting tired of that particular incident. Especially considering that they obviously didn't get his point, if the echo this week from the show is any indication. The problem of hack mouthpiece un-journalism persists. That's the point I think he was trying to make, and he'd do good to stay on topic with it and not get into some beltway version of Tupac-Biggie.

The other thing, uncleozzy, is that Tucker Carlson wouldn't be mourned because there are a thousand little bowtie weasely parrots just like him waiting to take his place if he goes down. They grow the things in pods, fergodsake. They're all a bunch of obsequious little 35-year-old Eddie Haskells who do exactly as they're told (and nothing else, of course) and who haven't had an original thought in their whole extended-middle-school lives. Novak, on the other hand, is infinitely more old-school, and rather more evil. His tentacles reach deep under the surface, and we've only seen the surface of how dirty he's willing to play. If Kerry wins the election, Novak should go up on treason charges for what he's done in merely covering his own ass.

Oh, some folks (Bush supporters, mostly, I think - as if Stewart weren't go after the show in its entirety, and just Carlson) are all over the web spouting talking points or proto-talking points re this incident, including Drudge's claiming that the show's ratings have declined. Also, there's the idea that the celebrity's opinions mean nothing, etc. It's all very tiresome to read. It's just so much blah-blah.

related to last week's FPP, where's a good, free, source of torrents now that Suprnova's gone to registration? Torrents for all things Daily Show are available here. You do need to register, but I'm not sure why that's an issue? And as PinkStainlessTail pointed out suprnova is not registration, you probably just went to .com instead of .org by mistake.

I've spent a fair amount of my past two days watching Daily Show clips on their site. Personally, I think they're unstoppable, and here's why: "News" shows are entertainment. Fox, CNN, CBS, it really doesn't matter: they don't report information, they attempt to gain viewers. They have some limitations as to what they can say, because supposedly the people own the airwaves... *cough* But in general, you could squeeze all of the major networks into one and not lose any information, because they all say the same things. Hence, the Daily Show. They have ZERO restrictions on what they say, because they make no claims about being fair or accurate (or interesting). Just funny. Since all the networks say the same thing, anybody who watches any TV "News" at all will get all of the jokes. As usual, I'm sure that Rupert and friends will come up with some crazy scheme to stop them (after all, they are being publicly outed for their sleazy brainwashing methods) but seriously, it's like trying to tell people that they can't grow a certain type of weed in their back yard, or copy CDs or sell their bodies: some things, right or wrong, are impossible to regulate. If the Daily Show got canned, evening talk shows would just start covering more "news," or O'Reilly would attempt to be more humorous, to fill in the gap... free money doesn't sit around for long.

Jon Stewart should make guest appearances on other shows: Survivor: "Jeff Probst? I made a special effort to let Burnett fly me all the way out to this deserted island so I can be with you and these smelly contestants and the cameras, because I have privately, amongst my friends and also in occasional newspapers and television shows, mentioned this show stinks. I felt that that wasn't fair and I should come here and tell you that I don't -- it's not just that you all walk around in the same clothes every day for weeks and, but your actions and inane conversations are insulting the intelligence of the American people. So I wanted to come here today and beg you guys to stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop making America wince. Joey: "Y'know I never thought I'd miss David Schwimmer." Charmed: "Combs? You and Milano produce this dreck don't you? Can't you.. fire writers or something? I watch you every week but it's only for the skin. This storyline is h-h-hurting America. It's the dumbest show on television. You're not believable as witches. There's not a wart to share between you. I don't find Combs a convincing mother figure, McGowan looked better as a redhead, and no offense Milano, but you don't act a convincing whore. I mean I just don't see it..." Fear Factor: "You put these people in full body gear with a helmet, kneepads, elbow pads, bullet proof vest.. hover the 'dangerous' stunt over water, the contestants are surrounded by well-paid and highly-trained lifeguards and ex-Navy Seals, you got a convoy of ambulances just off camera, we all know you pretest all these stunts to insure their safety otherwise the lawyers wouldn't let you film any of it. I got one question for ya Rogan: Where's the fear? Try standing up to Tucker Carlson's bowtie! Now that's scary!"

Ah, the NY Times finally heard about it: Mr. Stewart is very funny, but it is the vein of "a plague on both your houses" indignation that has made his show a cult favorite: many younger voters are turning to the "The Daily Show" for their news analysis, and are better served there than on much of what purports to be real news on cable. And of course it was fun just to see television pundits who think they are part of the same media version of the Algonquin Round Table as Mr. Stewart lose their cool when he tore off the tablecloth and shattered the plates. "Wait,'' Mr. Carlson said querulously. "I thought you were going to be funny. Come on. Be funny." Mr. Stewart was funny. And it was at their expense.
