Ashlee Simpson walks off SNL

Ashlee Simpson walked off stage on SNL, when the wrong tape was played for her second perfomance of the night. She vamped for a few seconds, then left her band stranded. The band, clearly pros, picked up on the mistake and kept playing the wrong song. The tape was from the first song she had sang, earlier in the show!

yes. to vamp, in a musical context, is to improvise. what she did was play jumprope, without a rope.
to vamp, in another sense, is to behave seductively. what she did was play jumprope, without a rope.
