GayTV Debuts in France

French TV Gets Gay Channel (Guardian link, reg. req.)
From the story, "Pink TV, which launched last night, promises viewers a mixture of Wonder Woman repeats, prime-time opera and gay and lesbian porn. A daily cultural review will look at issues like tourism, health, poetry and clubbing from a gay perspective, in a style which aims to be 'more cosy than cheeky'."

So does it mean I'm gay if I watch Wonder Woman repeats?

Linda Carter in a metal bikini and boots was the reason I went hetero.

Wonder Woman's for the (real) girls. It sounds interesting--we're still waiting for our gay channel. They're right about the porn being the big draw, i think.

We have "gay" tv here in Canada. The lesbian porn always seems to be more hetro than what'd I'd think lesbians might want. I'll be honest, I neither know any lesbians well enough to ask what they're into pornographically speaking, nor do I get the channel. All I know is the listing comes up on my digital box.

Without fail, nothing will be on, I'll flip by Pride, and see they're playing "Slutty Soroity Sisters XV" and think, damn, I really should be springing for this channel.

Canada has had "Pride TV" for some time already.

What I want is a combo channel of uncensored Howard Stern (the parade of gorgeous women who strip for him would make it an instant hit) and uncut Jerry Springer (is he still on? maybe it would have to be reruns?).

Really, any broadcast "porn" is going to be pretty soft compared to what I've heard is available on those internets.

"prime-time opera and gay and lesbian porn."

It's like whipped cream on the top. I find the mix of words hilarious.

In other news, The Guardian is requiring registration now? When did that happen? If they mean it, there goes my last leftish must-read site. Ghod, everybody's disappearing into gated communities.

Nah, sections of the paper are to-pay, but the main part is still free.

Media.Guardian is the niche part that went reg-silly. Bugmenot works fine on it. Stories on media.guardian that get linked to from the main page, are still non-reg. It's all still free (except the PDF-type version).

Only if you twirl around and around hoping for a wardrobe change.

and uncut Jerry Springer

How do you know, hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

WolfDaddy, I used to twirl around and around as a kid but I was just trying to get dizzy, not turn into the tiara wearing Amazonian babe.

See, that's the difference, fenriq. I was trying my hardest to turn myself into Lynda Carter, or, failing that, Debra Winger.

I note you're keeping mum about Mr. Springer, though, so perhaps there's still some denial going on. *runs*

Wolfie, baby doll, please tell me I wasn't the only faglet-in-training who used to wear cutout paper tiara and bracelets as a kid? Please?

Eh. Exposure vs. the stereotype reinforcement that comes with niche marketing. It was bound to happen, but I'm still kind of pissed.

um, we have gay tv in the US as well. it's called Bravo.

Be assured, the lesbo porn on Canada's Pride channel is about as exciting to heterosexuals as watching paint dry.

Think Diesel on Butch and you'll understand what I mean.

I'll admit to the bracelets, ChrisTN, but that's it. And that only because, I think, I was wanting to play bullets'n'bracelets with the neighbor boy who thought he was Superboy.
