Christian Kerry video

Is this for real? I got this off the (blocked to us in the UK) official George W Bush website. But I can't believe it is real. I got to the site by entering "georgewbush.org" without the www.

Bush's site is .com, not .org.

He's not stupid. He's just not American. Meaning, it wouldn't surprise him if such an ad were actually real. I mean, we do hear about some pretty dumb fucking things coming out of the USA. There is plenty of real shit going on in your election that causes an outsider's jaw to drop. Yeah, it would be a huge stretch if something this ridiculous were real... but, well, we're talking about America.

it's fake, but pushpoll phone calls to voters in the south are really saying Kerry will ban the Bible if elected. The phone rings in lower-middle-class West Virginia during a commercial break in prime-time TV: “You may be concerned to know that, if elected president, John Kerry will ban the Holy Bible in America.”

Matt, have we completely given up on any standards in the Blue? Why? Why are we letting MeFi go to shit? Why are you doing nothing about it, Matt? Do you like the tone that is taking over MeFi increasingly every single day??

I can understand how someone might mistake this for real. Dubya has nearly put The Onion out of business 'cause they can't imagine anything so stupid that he won't actually do it.

Damn, amberglow, if they would only call me I could ask them if that only applied to the King James version.

Well, first, he somehow thought the .org site was blocked from England, presumably based on the stellar thread from yesterday. Then he somehow didn't catch how it was obviously not the GWB site. Then he somehow didn't catch how utterly fake the video is. Then he somehow thought it was something that should be shared because it might be true. Then he somehow thought it would be a good FPP without bothering to check to see if it had any basis in reality. Actually, I'm amazed he actually accomplished so many things without thinking first.

To quote Will Ferrel:

"Are you English or retarded?"

MCD, touche.

Unfortunately, the high road doesn't work. Tried it.

Unfortunately, the high road doesn't work. Tried it.

And pray, what tiny bit of evidence would lead you to believe that the road you have chosen will work any better? Hmm?

Nothing?

That's what I thought.

your low road's not working either, and it sucks. You clearly have nothing to add to any thread you shit in, so why bother?

None of the above. I was trying to get around the block on the actual site and typed in org instead of com. In the back of my mind I think of com as standing for a commercial company. I should have stopped to think that the Republican party is rightly a com so that was stupid of me.
However, I was so pleased to get through to what appeared to be the blocked site I thought I would try to see if there was any content that warranted the block and I noticed the ad for the video with Kerry, and that struck me as pretty bizarre, especially with the star of david. So without looking further I had a look. Obviously, it was a fake, the voice over alone would have given that away but I was afraid it might get missed and this sort of thing ought to be seen for what it actually is. So I put it up.

And by the way, I am an American who has lived in the UK for thirty plus years. I moved here primarily because in England I was relieved to be away from the Reaganite, trickle-down insanity that had pervaded America and more recently happy to be across the sea from the antics of the religious right who still seem unable to mount an intelligable argument in favor of either their point of view or favored candidate.

Well, it's not even 10:00 AM here on sleepy Vancouver Island and I'm already pissed off.

Thanks for the subtle parody and witty repartée.

well I have to admit that this whole thing is pretty slap-on-the-forehead-dumb, but I remember when I found the .org and thought it was real - for a about 20 seconds. oh well. good video though

Seth is still a stupid, prickish, asshole.

There used to be feigned respectability here, now the insults are brazen and kind of, well, rude. What is up with the death of common decency?

What's up with giving people the benefit of the doubt? Why are people so PISSED OFF all the time?

Oh yeah, a Bush in the White House and a Dick a heartbeat away from world domination. Less than a week now. Less than a week.

It'll all be over soon, just sit back, relax and quitcherbitchin'! Or, at the very least, show some imagination when you feel compelled to insult someone.
