My high school sweetheart and his new bride were just the "featured story" a few weeks ago. Usually that section of the Times is the one I love to hate - - all that excess celebration of hetero prizewinning - - but the wedding itself was so sweet I had to get over myself.
The feature was really lame, though. It didn't capture either spouse's story very well, and read more like a PR piece than a lifestyle vignette. posted by pomegranate at 11:58 AM on November 10, 2004
I have a minor, burgeoning obsession with the announcements page. Veiled Conceit was mentioned on Gawker yesterday and so far I love it.
Anybody know what's up with the Times running photos of JUST the bride? Not so long ago, there was a photo of the bride *in her bridal gown* as if the groom had been cropped out. If you know you're going to have an annoucement running in the Times, can't you try a little harder to submit a photo that actually has your spouse-to-be in it?? Weird. posted by bcwinters at 12:41 PM on November 10, 2004
While reading the real NYT piece behind that last link, I had to keep glancing up at the URL to convince myself it wasn't a parody. posted by Zurishaddai at 1:20 PM on November 10, 2004
This is one of the best blogs I have ever read. Not since the fourth comment on this post have I literally laughed out loud this much at something on the internet.

If it's one thing the Internet has given us, it's a forum for snarky columnists to make fun of people.
Thank god for the Internet. posted by thanotopsis at 11:14 AM on November 11, 2004
