My grandma likes to cook, sew, and smoke a lot of crack. This tiny article intrigues me, not for the cocaine information, but rather the cliffhanger of an ending sentence... Apparantly that part wasn't as newsworthy.

The way it's just tossed in at the end is almost deadpan.

I'm amazed she got off with such a light sentence. The word "crack" is usually a magic talisman which, when mixed with police officers, makes for living hell. It doesn't matter how cruel the sentence, anything is justified when crack is involved. Yet she gets off with 5 years probation. Perhaps she isn't black?

I notice she pled guilty to "possession of cocaine." Now I suppose laws may vary from state to state, but is that different than "possession of crack"? Because I seem to recall that in many places, possessing crack is treated much more seriously than plain old cocaine.

Sigh.

Yeah, dammit. She might not be put to death, which she so plainly deserves. (Or did I misread that Dave?)

It looks like the older you get, the more you can get away with.

Sylloge, join me in the crusade to execute all crack-possessing grandmas! They're a scourge on our society! And slow, torturous execution is really the only solution.
