As far as arcades go, the younger kids/early teens should have a parent with them in the first place to watch what they're playing. The older teens will resort to fake ID's, as most already have them.As far as stores selling the home versions go, the younger kids should have a parent with them in the first place to watch what they buy. As for the older teens, it only takes half a brain to get your older friend or that guy at the yogurt stand to buy the game for you.The government is not here to take the role of parents. Parents who let their preteen kids play ultra violent games should re-examine why they had kids in the first place. Responsibility is the key.Just because the kid down the street is sensitive doesn't mean I can't play a violent game. I would have been more angry with this a while ago, but I'm 18 now, so it doesn't affect me. And I don't even live in the state.

This is exactly what I predicted during the Malaysia topic a couple days ago. What's best about this article is what is probably one of the stupider quotes of the year

In the ruling, U.S. District Judge David Hamilton said, "It would be an odd conception of the First Amendment ... that would allow a state to prevent a boy from purchasing a magazine containing pictures of topless women in provocative poses, but give that same boy a constitutional right to train to become a sniper at the local arcade without his parents' permission."

Regardless of how many times you've played Quake, if you've never handled a real gun you're going to be a completely clueless sniper. Maybe this guy will start passing out Pilot Licenses for people who have logged 30 hours on MS's Flight Simulator.

These boys probably have kids of their own before they're able to legally buy porn anyways, sounds like the conservative stance has again shown its stupidity and that its completely out of touch with reality.

Perhaps mayoral races should be decided by a head-to-head marathon SimCity match.

I've always wanted mayoral candidate to do that though. Or have Civilization matches for presidential candidates.

Before you get married or buy a house or get a job, you have to reach the top of your chosen career path in the sims.

People who finish Age of Empires will be given history degrees.

Finished Indiana Jones and the Search for Atlantis? Here's your achaeology degree.

Enjoy Counterstrike? Here's your Green Beret...

I could go on all night. :-)

Argh! What's most annoying? Sexually explicit and violent movies are rated at 17+, but the law aims at 18+. So if your 17 you can buy the game two stores down at the mall before you can play the game in the arcade.

...yet another conservative goof who has never felt the meditative calm of a good game of Quake...

I find it disturbing that lawmakers are trying to do to violence what they did to nudity. Neither is inherently bad; the only thing that causes them to negatively effect people is the taboo placed upon them.
