I've seen those before in a design annual. I think they're ads for a dog food manufacturer. But anyway, here's an article that backs up the old adage with somewhat scientific proof.

They're ads for Cesar, a brand specially formulated for tiny, annoying dogs. I suspect those aren't real owners.

I should be so lucky as to resemble my dog.

Jasper the dog IS pretty darn cute, but I'd steer clear of any man with ears that big.

Its an ad campaign, not only are they all models/actors/whatever I'm sure the photos have been manipulated more than a little.
