Somehow I see this sitcom as being shot in black and white and set in, oh I don't know, 1692.

I still can't believe the Whitehouse are using that word "crusade" again. They already were forced to apologise for Bush's use of it previously.

It's not hard to see why either. The Crusades were the most disgusting use of terrorism the world has ever seen. Just as one example, during the siege of Antioch, they would take Muslim women and children from their houses while they slept at night, slice them up and then cart the remains around the streets in an insane display of triumph in the name of God.

(My first comment- Thanks Matt!)

John Ashcroft--making a joyful noise unto the Lord since 1942.

As an aside, I like the fact this autographed 8x10 glossy has, at the time of this writing, received no bids.

Is it just me, fandango_matt, or does that pic say "To Ray, Best Wishes"? I'm thinking this Romano thing goes deeper than you think. Deeper, perhaps, than you can possibly imagine. Do you ever get that feeling, that creeping hint of sheer terror, like the glimpse of a malignant shadow out of the corner of your eye? Like beyond this world, there lies another, one that below its cheerily enamelled surface of Officially Approved Joy, runs according to some clockwork madness no mind can comprehend? The evil has a thousand faces, my friend--Ashcroft, Romano, Richard Simmons--but only one black, twisted heart.

On the other hand, if it says "Roy", never mind.

As a Springfield, MO native I can say that I've been hearing Ashcroft sing my whole life. He even sang at my uncle's funeral.

Such a dirty family secret.

Dick Paris (tiens un Parisien!): I'm afraid I was serious. I'll gladly admit I have terrible musical taste, and no doubt, discernment. I like to think of it as open-mindendness, but others have had less flattering comments. By the way, the music also favorably reminded me of Elvis.

While sitting around the dinner table at a large family gathering at my wife's cousin's house (a church-going, hymn-singing Xtian of the first stripe), the cousin professed shock at my dislike of Ashcroft. I replied that I thought "Ashcroft is as crazy as a shithouse rat".

I haven't been invited back.
