Modular Origami is a very cool thing. Make a Buckyball with some PHiZZ units or make some polyhedra with the penultimate modules.

Fabirc origami plus Tomoko Fuse's excelent unit origami box design makes for some beautiful gift boxes. Plus it gives you an excuse to wander around the fabric store buying little bits of brightly colored broadcloth.

Modular origami is fun. I've made the five intersecting tetrahedra piece, it's a very impressive design that looks somehow impossible even when you've got it in your hands. Everything fits together just right. Holds together very well too, unlike some of the more complex designs.

Do a google search for 'sonobe'. It is a different way of making modular origami. Thanks dwordle, this has been a hobby of mine in times past.

I've been making polyhedral ornaments for my solstice tree and as gifts for the last 5 years. Unit Origami by Tomoko Fuse is the book that got me started; it's a fun hobby for the winter months. I've also made beautiful polyhedral lamp shades using vellum paper.

i've been into polyhedra and origami since forever, but never combined like this. i've known about it for a while but was never inspired to go for it and build something big. well, as i read this post, i noticed that the massive stack of post-it notes by my desk are the perfect thing to make a buckyball with, and as of this afternoon, i'm almost half-way done. thanks for the post!
