It's that time of year again. When everyone comes out with their lists of the best movies, albums, TV shows, books, etc, etc. Fimoculous has a page that lists them all so you don't have to search around the web. (And it will be continuously updated for the next month or so, so keep checking back)

Great lists but I notice that the site doesn't yet have Artforum's list of the years best films [which includes John Water's list] and best music.

The best movie was "Team America: World Police" and the best album was Kanye West "College Dropout". (honorable mention to The Killers) Best game? hmm, probably Katamari Damacy.

When did we stop making up our own minds? Two words. Information. Overload. These best of lists have the same function as Metafilter. I am too busy to listen to every album put out, so I rely on best of lists, top tens, reviews, etc, to help me sort the wheat from the chaff. Which doesn't mean I don't take chances, and listen to unknown artists etc, but it does mean I listen to more good music.
