Cries into hands... my server, it's going to melt now isn't it?

This calendar is the result that came out of this Ask thread combined with the drubbing that Lunar Gardening got in this thread.

I've just been alerted to this thread from an email via flickr where the larger images are stored (that's for when my server melts).

It was supposed a fairly low key affair

I like it. I'd buy a couple, but it looks like it'd be too much hassle to get them over here in the UK.

Great idea.

I just bought one. Once I get it, I might send some to my clients as a Christmas thank you.

Could you put it up on Archive.org for hosting since it's released under Creative Commons?

Damnit, I was hoping for a kittens advent calendar or something. I feel cheated. (Still cool though)

I've had a look at Archive.org but they don't seem, at first glance (and second glance) to have anything for still images.

The high resolution image that's uploaded to cafepress is a 8.4Meg png file, can you torrent a PNG?

I can't host it myself as the server would die, but ideally it should be somewhere so people can take it to their own local print shop.

Cafepress was really a last resort.

This would be good to laminate then write on with a water soluble pen if you can't bring yourself to use pencils/normal pens. Then it needs some clever way to easily mark the current day with minimal damage to the poster. Maybe little vinyl stickers that can be removed and reapplied.

Sangre - I think they actually make colorforms for adults that are usable for just such tasks. Alternately, if you put it over a thin metal backing, you can use magnets.

This looks like it was created in Illustrator, wouldn't it be much smaller (therefore easier on the server) if it was left as a PDF?

Milton: it wasn't done in Illustrator, it's generated in ColdFusion using Sin and Cos and all sorts of fun stuff. That then writes out a huge rastor image.

While creating it the server was dealing with a 6900x6900 pixel bitmap. I may put the code up sometime, it's easy to tweek it to do any year or rotation and the colours are in a seperate 365pixel wide file.

caddis: pretty neat, now all we need is a calendar on a couple of hexa-hexa-flexagons
