I heard on NPR that given there are 600-some death row inmates ahead of him, it would take them around 27 years to actually off him.

If it's on the front page of CNN.COM, don't post it here.

Are they going to execute him twice? Once for Laci, and once for Connor?

Does this mean Dean Cain dies too? Two Supermen in one year....

> a jury decided Monday that he deserves the death penalty for murdering his pregnant wife, Laci, almost two years ago to the date.

he was convicted of killing a fetus.

I didn't realize that his pregnant wife, Laci, was a fetus.

Then you are very, very ignorant.

This post is incredible.

Just ... mindblowing. Thank you, Ms. I Eat Tapas.

Defense attorneys seized on anything from Scott Peterson's past in attempt to spare his life, including testimony that he never cheated or lost his temper on the golf course.

Wow, and that didn't work? Amazing.

That's it, I'm moving to Canada.

Scott Peterson is going to die.

Big deal. So am I. So are you, for that matter.

This post is probably very bad news for Metafilter.

Ok, I haven't watched the trial expect in bits and pieces. Was there evidence that he did it? I've done a little reading and it sounds like he lacked a strong alibi, and was having an affiar with someone. Is that it? Am I missing something? Is that the burden of proof these days?

I think we should sentence I EAT TAPES to death, since he's obviously regressed back to being a fetus. Or maybe we should just send him to Palestine.

I didn't realize that his pregnant wife, Laci, was a fetus.

That's what makes it so controversial - the fetus he killed was pregnant with a fetus.

I'm moving to Canada.

There's a levy on TAPES in Canada. This would still happen but it would cost more.

I believe the fetus had a woman wrapped around it.

I'm impressed that this hasn't made it to MeTa yet.

Although, that first line in the link appears to say that all you need to do to win the case is to cry a few times during the trial..

REMEMBERING LACI, HOW HER SMILE WOULD MAKE YOU SMILE,
REMEMBERING LACI, HOW SHE LOVED, THERE'S NO DENIAL.
NOW THE ANGELS HOLD HER GENTLY, AND LITTLE CONNOR'S WITH HER TOO,
AND SHE SMILES AND SAYS WE'RE ALRIGHT, AND WE SEND OUR LOVE TO YOU

So what's the big deal again?

Maybe it would be more interesting if you spelled it "fœtus".

This tale is too Republican, film noir and sentimental for my taste. It'll be a TNT ratings-week blockbuster, or maybe Lifetime, depending on who they get to do the special effects.

at least we won't have to hear about this trial anymore.

On another note, the gloating and cheering at these verdicts continues to astound me.

I haven't been following the case, what about it warrants the media attention? I forget. Is it just that there's an fetus involved in determining the conviction, is that what brings it to national news level?

I'm grateful to Pretty_Generic for posting that picture. Apparently my girlfriend never encountered the "I EAT TAPES" label phenomenon in her childhood (not enough time spent hanging around the A/V department, I suppose), and P_G's image was exactly the illustration I needed. Thanks!
