eve.com is no more, which is a shame they had more than a few sexy photographs on there and decent design.

Apparently secret messages in the source code is all the rage these days. What did they do, I never heard of them. I got the feeling they might have been competeing with REALDOLL. Am I right?

That should encourage the boo folks for their impending relaunch under the Fashionmall.com umbrella. The privacy statement makes it clear they will share your information with Fashionmall affiliates and doesn't mention opting out. With the current focus on the ethics of sharing of personal information, their assertion that they're going to just that and boo's track record financially, would anyone be stupid enough to shop there. Anyone want to take bets on how long they'll last this time?

the photos there now DO look like wax models, though.

CNN did an exposé on internet start-ups about 6 months ago, and used Eve.com in one segment. They showed how these two women started the idea, presented it to venture capitalists, got the funding they needed and got the site online. But the one thing that seemed to be vacant from the piece, and from the attitudes of the people funding them, was whether they had any strong evidence or data to support the notion that women would buy cosmetics online. I guess they didn't.
