GWB on Letterman

GWB on Letterman "As executive producer Maria Pope leans over Dave's desk shouting something of importance to Dave, see Governor George W. Bush reaching over and grabbing the end of Maria's shawl. His glasses needed cleaning and everyone knows the shawl of a TV producer makes for a great cleaning cloth. So the Governor cleaned his glasses on Maria's shawl, as if she were a kleenex."

Inconsiderate Moron-in-Chief
That's got a nice ring to it.

Maybe you should try and find out more details before insulting anyone, but we must fulfill the daily MetaFilter quota of at least 1 "insult George W. Bush" thread

A Shrub a day...

Yeah, I'm pretty much ok with that "One Bush insult a day" figure. Although, personally, I am open to the idea of Multiple Daily Bush Insult Threads.

Just think when he becomes president, gyc. It'll never stop.

I felt sorry for a few seconds, then thought of all the "went into a McDonalds for big mac" jokes that Clinton endured day after day after day before and after the campaign.

And speaking of attacks on Bush vs. old attacks on Clintion, why does no one make a big deal about Gore going to 'nam vs. Shrub not going? Remember how big of a fucking deal that was supposed to be in 1992? No one trusted that Clinton could command the military? They made fun of him not knowing how to do a salute? Why does no one mention that with regards to GWBush? And remember how big of a deal it was that Clinton smoked pot once (incorrectly, perhaps) and Bush the 1st didn't? Why is that litmus test not put on Bush "coke habit" vs. Gore "occasional pot smoker back in college"?

liberal media my ass...

I didn't know GWB wore glasses. I just hope he didn't spit on them before he cleaned them. That would be really gross.

I'm thinking it was an attempt at humour. He seems to have a great sense of it.

I was wondering why no comic or anyone (that I noticed) made reference to his constant sniffing in the second and a bit in the third debate.

Mikel, Jay Leno played up the sniffling in a bit he did last week where they edited the footage to look like Leno was asking questions and they had the candidates answer in funny ways. The sniffing was used a couple of times.

MeFi should have a "Nader rule" signifying an argument's end, much like that Usenet "Hitler rule" that I can't exactly remember the name of... :)

I’m pretty sure the expiry on “Vote Nader” threads is November seventh, as with most this election hoo-ha. I hope all the politics don’t die out, though. There are some damned mensa quality posters ’round these parts.

I just figured out why he did it....It was "the vision thing"

The Hitler rule was coined by Mike Godwin, I think. "The argument ends when someone calls someone else a Nazi"

I think that Gore doesn't play up Nam because (I heard) that it was a non-combatant position.

There are a lot of really smart geek conservatives voting for Bush, and I just can't figure it out. Are they voting for the platform? Because the man himself just comes across as a real clueless gomer. Not that Gore has a personality.

Gore was an Army journalist in Vietnam; I don't know whether that counts as a combatant position or not, but he was indeed over there.
