Gaming in Iraq by US troops. Soon after the battle for Fallujah ended in November, U.S. Marines brought their Xbox consoles, Gameboys and laptops forward and started fighting the Covenant hordes in "Halo," Mario and Luigi's worst enemies and those irksome roommates from "The Sims."

Of course such actives during war are nothing new. Iraqies have also gotten in on the action too.

I guess the obvious suggestion would be to get US troops and insurgents onto the same network and off the streets.

Rows of Nintendo's "Metroid Prime: Echoes" for the GameCube console went untouched, probably because the Xbox and Playstation are far more popular here.

Marines live a stringent lifestyle when deployed on a float or otherwise when not fighting. Eat, play video games, eat, play video games, shit, eat, play video games, sleep, start over.

Next time I'm playing as a sniper in BF42's Desert Combat, I'll wonder if, somewhere, a sniper is playing as a 23-year old graphic designer in The Sims.

Hrm.

Before the occupation, Saddam's official state Web site, Uruklink, included Warez search among the other possible search engines. No joke, check out the entry on Archive.org.

Then again, many people would like to think of the dictator-era Iraqis as being oppressed 24/7 rather than flying kites or playing Quake.

me too SAC, me too... uncultured fools.

They have enough stress being in actual life-and-death combat situations. They don't need frustration on the front and when they're trying to relax.

I support our troops. I support their decision to not play Metroid Prime 2 Echoes while on tours of duty.

Nice one.

Sooo, anyone know where the insurgent's spawn point is?
