Interesting. It's like craigslist personals but more boring.
Confusing. I 'need hay' and was treated to a list of others who need hay. Seems backwards to me.

I keep seeing this site in the blogs and manifestos of user-oriented web-whatevers. "So simple! Have hay, need hay."
Just this morning, I was thinking, "What if I was looking for people who 'have hay,' or who 'need hay?' Then I'd get it backwards!"
I don't have a lot to think about.

This site was mentioned in Adaptive Path's Nine Resolutions for 2005 column (scroll to 6. Ask the basic questions.) Dunno if I'd call it the 'best website I've ever seen,' though, especially considering OpinioNate's observation...

Looking again, I sort of figured it out, and it's not that simple or great at all.
If you NEED hay, you click "Need hay," and place an ad saying you need hay. Then, you go back out, and you click "Have hay," to see a listing of people who have hay.
If you HAVE hay, you click "Have hay" to post an ad indicating such, then you go back out and go into "Need hay" to find people who need it.
Sure, it has two front page links, but you have to click on both of them no matter who you are. That's useless simplicity. Imagine a product site that had links saying "Customers" and "Dealers." When you click on Dealers, thinking "I'm a dealer," you got a list of dealers willing to sell. That's not what you wanted. When you click on customers, you get a list of potential customers, but you also get an option to post an ad AS a customer, which isn't what you wanted either. So, two simple links, and both disappoint and confuse whoever click on them.
I suppose this post guarantees I will never be hired by Adaptive Path.
