THE AMIGA IS BACK! Why, oh why, did i throw out all my Amiga games. And it wasn't that long ago, that i did that either. Aaaaarrgh.

No release date eh? Some comeback. I just finished the specifications for a fuel efficient time machine, talking to production people right now.

And regarding hardware, skallas, the site does say this much: All this work - including extensive testing of hardware and software components - is scheduled to be complete in time for end user deliveries 3Q01. So it's a good year away, but that gives the hype train lotsa time to get some steam building up.

Hardware? Isn't Amiga's new system built ontop of Tao Group's work, which has been ported to dozens or architectures anyway? I'm under the impression that they'll sell and support hardware, but the operating system is Amiga's Buzz.

I predict that by next summer, this will fall through and nothing will come of it yet again. At least if the past several attempts to revive the Amiga are any guide.

From the link, they're developing a bunch of hardware. I only glanced through it, looking for a release date or some indicator of availability, so I'm not completely sure what the architecture looks like.

I'm not sure whether I find all this new Amiga activity exciting or not. When I've got enough money to buy the SDK and mess with that then I'll know. But I'm much more tempted by the prospect of Atheos.

I've got an Amiga 1000, 2000 and about oh....100 or so games, along with some disks that haven't seen the light of day for some time. All are stored away in the garage collecting dust and decaying, but deserving of a better home. Anyone know of a place to get rid of some of this crap?

The statement "The Amiga is back" is true only for extremely generous definitions of "Amiga" and "back."
