Alex is also, I must say, one of the sweetest, least pretentious, and well-balanced people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He's a real mensch, and reproductions of his work do not do it justice -- it's much more powerful when it's inches from your face.

Alex is the man. What a friggin great artist. I had a shroom chocolate once while hanging out at his chapel. He's a really nice guy.

I saw a performance if his in SF a year and a half ago. I had no idea that he performed as well as painted. I was expecting it to be cheesy and dismissible, but was very deeply moved.

They have some great tribal drum sessions at Alex's place.

Ramiro Rodriguez is another good artist popularized by Tool.

Also, check out the Parabol/Parabola video Alex Grey worked on (featuring The Man and Tricky).

There's a few clips of Alex Grey in the trailer (~25mb, QT req.) for this new doco concerning psychedelics called Entheogen: Awakening the God Within, which will be opening at Sundance.
