Nostradamus vs. Nas: We here at Terminus En decided to see who is the wiser prophet Since the world is completely obsessed with end times and the apocalypse nee armageddon, it is really nice to see that someone is looking for the modern-day Nostradamus. And who would have known that the new prophet is Nas.

well, err, the concept is kind of interesting. but, with all due respect, the execution sucks. it doesn't sound like the person who wrote this has listened to all that much of nas' work. he actually has a lot of social commentary that it actually would be interesting to try to interpret as 'prophecy', since he has that whole 'nastradamus' persona going on. but there's a lot of other emcees that could work with, too. does it really end with 'Nas has predicted the death of numerous other MCs" ? or am I missing something more?

yes, this was horrible. I mean it's just a paragraph, right? And it isn't well written or insightful? Nas happened to have an album called Nastradamus... but please please read some more fpps before you post. A one post link to a mediocre blog does not best of the web make. And lots to learn sure, but don't feel obliged to let us in on every step of the process. This isn't a scratchpad, ya know? anyway...

it's pretty suspicious linking to such a nothing of an 'article' given that you are the author of articles about blogs and blog marketing. In your article entitled 'Effective PR Blogging" you give excellent advice about how "content is king" in the academic and presumably corporate worlds-- why not here? It seems unlikely that someone with a such a long history of blogging as well as membership in the "Viral Buzz and Marketing Association" would think that the above post is worthy of MetaFilter. More likely, the site belongs to a friend of yours and you wanted to give him/her some press and/or test the effectiveness of links from MeFi for viral marketing and buzz. Or, it could just be a lapse in judgement and I could be way off. But usually when there is no real compelling motivation for a link, there is something else behind it.

Nostradamus had the visions which he later recorded in verse while staring into water or flame late at night. Nas had the visions which he later recorded into rhymes while puffing on a water bong lit by a flame late at night. Nostradamus is said to have predicted his own death. Nas has predicted the death of numerous other MCs. Heh.

Don't feel hurt about it. I got flak for my first post too, and deservedly so. There have been many post lately that are hardly "best of the web". But I'm sure the flow will pick up. I usually, unless I've been drinking, lay low and watch the old timers.

That's true. Anyway, I think I am going to earn my stripes and I am going to do more of the comment thing. The funny thing is, that when I look at Metafilter through SharpReader, and then choose the article, it takes me straight to the destination article so if I want to see it on Meta and then want to comment, I have to leave the feed client and then go back. Anyway, I still think the post is funny. But then again, I didn't know about the hoax quatrain or any of that. Thanks snsranch.

Well, rather, I have been reading Meta for a while until I saw some stuff I wanted to comment on. Thanks for the "better luck next time" and sorry to you, Dukebloo... I will work on my discernment... Or, rather, stick to the comments...
