Even though it is not polite to ask, I have to know why doesn't President Bush go to church?
posted by mlis at 9:11 AM on February 5, 2005

A person does not need to attend church in order to be a believer, nor in order to be religious. And I say that as a lifelong atheist.

And as referenced above -- WTF is the point of this post? I hate religion as much as the next guy (well, as much the next atheist), but cripes -- ANOTHER Bush-is-evil-cuz-he's-Christian thread is just a waste of time, bandwidth, and brainpower. MOVE. ON. Already.

Why don't you just admit that you passionately despise more that half of the country? People who live in the same country as you do believe in god. Deal with it.
I don't have any problem with them as I respect their existance and understand necessary compromise in society.

davidmsc, it's supposed to be funny.

VP Dick Cheney, when asked to comment, said he was bemused as to why YHWH didn't consult him first but that he was considering the president's request to change his name to "Saint Dickie." Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld is said to be fancying the moniker "Joseph Americathea."

joseph america-thea. i like that. but the kindest cut of all is saved for the new secretary of state who "isn't sure how she feels because the president hasn't yet told her what to think."

What davidmsc said. And the whole Bush-Jeebus thing is low hanging fruit for bad satirists. Grow teeth!

...passionately despise more that half of the country?

So if I think someone's beliefs are inconsistent or even ridiculous, I "passionately dispose" them? If I think the President has a touch of hubris about him, I "passionately despise" everyone who voted for him, for whatever reason?

Is this post a troll? Maybe. But two trolls don't make a right. Or an informed debate. Or something like that.

davidmsc, it's supposed to be funny.

And yet it's flat as Kansas, and twice as broad.

HTuttle, that may be true, but he also doesn't read the Bible.

So all he's left with is proclaiming loudly that he loves the Jesus, but doesn't go to church, and doesn't read his (His) words.

With all the gorgeous weather across most of the country this this afternoon, anyone with enough good sense to post something interesting is outside. (I was just on my way out, honest!)

You did not just link to an Al Franken interview as your evidence.
