SilverJade psychic

A group of psychics led by colourful 'SilverJade', based in Johannesburg South Africa, have predicted that a series of earthquakes and other natural disasters will strike the western coast of the United States on or around the 23rd of February 2005. The prediction is based on the interpretation of a series of dreams by SilverJade, and the technical analysis of earthquake patterns occuring worldwide throughout the month of January 2005. As of 11th of February 2005, they have successfully predicted a significant event, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake in south eastern Alaska, as being a first step in a series of smaller events leading up to the big bang. The next step of the prediction is set to occur at some time on or around the 13th and 15th of the month.

We worked with the knowledge at hand and made extensive use of Candice's tarot talents to guide us.

because if we did it scientifically the math would be too hard.

*but double checks anyway on supply of rapture rations.*

I predict that 20000 monarch butterflies will fly out of my butt on 23 February 2005. Let's see if I'm any better at predicting the future than SilverJade.

The USGS says that earthquakes of magnitudes between 5 and 5.9 happen fairly often.

Predicting something that happens 1300 times a year does not take skill.

On the other hand Silverjade didn't predict an earthquake that small anyway, predicting instead one over 6. Which, ummm... didn't happen.

This is actually good. Only if "psychics" would make specific, concrete verifiable predictions like these. Would be much easier to get rid of them.

You know, I believe in SilverJade, simply because she uses Pascal case in her name. For some reason, I could never trust silverJade as much as I trust SilverJade.

What do they lose if they get it wrong? What are they staking?

It's not a bet if there's no stake, dammit.

Some people have all the luck. SilverJade is a lovely New Age name. For some reason people just giggle when they find out that at my renaming ceremony my shaman gave me CrystalLight.

Hey, man. What if you're right? Better set the day aside just in case. You'd hate to be at work, in a meeting with the boss, when streams of butterflies start coming out your ass.

This may be good news for me. I've always wanted to experience a powerful earthquake and the last time I was in California I managed to SLEEP THROUGH a 5.somethingOrOther. Maybe this year I'll have better luck - I'll be travelling the week after the predicted date. Perhaps it will be kind enough to hold off long enough for me to arrive.

Sounds like the plot of a hilarious comedy starring Jim Carrey. Someone sell this to Hollywood, assuming it's still standing after all those earthquakes.

At least SilverJade is making an actual prediction, unlike our friends at the Global Consciousness Project.

Not that it will help.

I hope.

SilverJennifer! Last night I dreamt that.....

Well, the rapture index is at 153 today so I'd have to say, it doesn't look good.

Rapture Index of 85 and Below: Slow prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 85 to 110: Moderate prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 110 to 145: Heavy prophetic activity
Rapture Index above 145: Fasten your seat belts

What would I do without Me-Fi? Live in a world surrounded by "only what I can touch" materialism and be bored out of my skull? Me-Fi has introduced me to the wonders of Oak Island, fun UFO stuff, the Grail, Explosive Farting, etc. etc. etc.

In terms of what I can feel and experience, we have not had a good earthquake (5.5 plus) in at least 5 - 6 years here in SoCal. I guess I ought to leave my complacency behind and go buy some water at Ralphs...

So you didn't call the number and quiz them on M-theory and quantum loop gravity? If not, how do you know they aren't offering the world's best physics?

Oddly, when I checked SilverJade's website, where the original prediction was posted, I found no explanation about why the predicted February 23rd event didn't happen. And the comments page on the site has no comments past February 20th.

The website does say The new focus of this website is to share critical information relating to our previous Rolling Earth prediction. That critical information, however, doesn't appear to include anything about why the prediction was wrong, or even any revised date.

i wonder what would happen if these predictions actually did occur...would we start believing them more? chalk it up to coincidence?
