A group of psychics led by colourful 'SilverJade', based in Johannesburg South Africa, have predicted that a series of earthquakes and other natural disasters will strike the western coast of the United States on or around the 23rd of February 2005. The prediction is based on the interpretation of a series of dreams by SilverJade, and the technical analysis of earthquake patterns occuring worldwide throughout the month of January 2005. As of 11th of February 2005, they have successfully predicted a significant event, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake in south eastern Alaska, as being a first step in a series of smaller events leading up to the big bang. The next step of the prediction is set to occur at some time on or around the 13th and 15th of the month.

The USGS says that earthquakes of magnitudes between 5 and 5.9 happen fairly often. Predicting something that happens 1300 times a year does not take skill. On the other hand Silverjade didn't predict an earthquake that small anyway, predicting instead one over 6. Which, ummm... didn't happen.

This may be good news for me. I've always wanted to experience a powerful earthquake and the last time I was in California I managed to SLEEP THROUGH a 5.somethingOrOther. Maybe this year I'll have better luck - I'll be travelling the week after the predicted date. Perhaps it will be kind enough to hold off long enough for me to arrive.

What would I do without Me-Fi? Live in a world surrounded by "only what I can touch" materialism and be bored out of my skull? Me-Fi has introduced me to the wonders of Oak Island, fun UFO stuff, the Grail, Explosive Farting, etc. etc. etc. In terms of what I can feel and experience, we have not had a good earthquake (5.5 plus) in at least 5 - 6 years here in SoCal. I guess I ought to leave my complacency behind and go buy some water at Ralphs...

Oddly, when I checked SilverJade's website, where the original prediction was posted, I found no explanation about why the predicted February 23rd event didn't happen. And the comments page on the site has no comments past February 20th. The website does say The new focus of this website is to share critical information relating to our previous Rolling Earth prediction. That critical information, however, doesn't appear to include anything about why the prediction was wrong, or even any revised date.
