Law and Order is the greatest show ever

When is Law and Order on? The listings are dynamically generated with links to show summaries as well. I can't think of a better homepage now, can you?

It needs graphs.

Also, look near the bottom at Tuesday, at 8 PM.

I give up, what's at the bottom at Tuesday? Also, look at statistics.

Now's as good a time as any to completely ignore the thread's real topic, and link to my own Law and Order cast chart, mainly just used so i can figure out what year I'm watching in reruns.

You forgot Abe Vigoda. And Poland.

Speaking as someone who relies on ShunTV for his daily/weekly dose of Jon Stewart and Matt Groening ... if I were to buy a television for the new apartment I'm moving to next week, what shows would be worth watching?

They have charts. The charts are horrifying.

THIS is why I love the internets. Good lord...I'm not a HUGE fan -- prefer Briscoe-era L&O, with some CI thrown in -- but I'm gonna be checking this page quite often.

And JKF -- very cool timeline -- thanks.

Awww, man! My all-time favorite episode of the entire L&A genre is on and my cable is out. Too bad 'torrents are no good for old episode-finding.

I don't even watch the show - or any TV - but I still think this is a very cool site.
Wish they'd had something like this back in the day so I woulda never missed an episode of Underdog,my favorite show ever ever evar.

Wouldn't it have been quicker to do a site detailing when Law & Order isn't on?

I don't see a listing for "Law and Oder: Elevator Inspectors Unit".

Yeow, JKF--great chart.

I've never been able to stomach CI, but I watch the mothership and SVU with great devotion. Still haven't seen all the early Briscoe-Logan episodes, though.

I have Tivo, therefore Law and Order (mothership and SVU) is ALWAYS on.

Not a fan of CI, but I'll definitely be checking it out when Chris Noth is on next season.

And Trial By Jury is premiering next month.

I personally don't like the entire Law & Order franchise, (although I smiled once at something sardonic Goran said before I realised every single line is like that, and that he's never, ever, ever wrong) BUT I am a sucker for good information management, and I gots to give mad props to JKF's cast chart. This should be done for more shows. I am impressed.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of CI either. Clever McSmartass annoys the hell out of me.

Very much looking forward to Trial by Jury though.

Oh, and thanks all for the comments about my cast chart. :-)

Speaking of L & O - some "Lost" fans are complaining the chick who plays Kate isn't a good actress. These people have obviously never seen most of the "actresses" who've played Asst. DA's in the L & O franchise. They make "Kate" look like Helen Freakin Hayes.
It's astonishing how they're able to find so many bad actresses in the theatre capitol of the world. (Jill Hennesey and the one blonde - no not that annoying one from SVU - aside.)

That's a cool cast list, JKF. I'm not a huge fan of any of the L&O shows, but they're mildly amusing because there's always some actor or other who's appeared naked and degraded in "Oz" popping up, so you can scream at the telly: "You're not a Doctor! You're a psycho, white supremacist, jail-cell rapist... and I've seen you naked!"... or something like that.

Can someone do this for homicide? Is it still in reruns anywhere. Please?

JKF: Your chart is excellent. It would be better, however, if it included Lieutenant Anita Van Buren, as played by S. Epatha Merkerson since 1993.
posted by mr_roboto at 11:13 PM on February 16, 2005

Doesn't it include her? As captain, the first character listed?

Thanks JKF and clockworkjoe, these are great! My dad's a Law & Order fiend, and you helped me absolutely make his day.

Whoa. Was that always there? Did you just add that, JKF? How's I miss it?

Only appears to have American listings. Perhaps you could have pointed this out?

Clever McSmartass annoys the hell out of me.

B-b-b-ut, he's smart! He knows everything! Watching D'Onofrio mug his way through an episode is what I like best about CI. He's basically Columbo, complete with the annoying fidgets, slightly slurred voice, and a habit for sudden, dramatic solutions.
posted by octobersurprise at 5:53 AM on February 17, 2005

Aw, this is a post after my own heart. Excellent character timeline, JKF.

I watch all the L&O's obsessively and have yet to see a single mothership episode on rerun that I haven't already seen - it's been years since that happened, in fact. Maybe the listings will help me find a new-to-me ep.

As for CI, well ... he gets them to confess EVERY TIME, doesn't he? Doesn't he? And his sidekick is from "The Mighty Ducks"! What other detective can say that?

Personally I'm still waiting for "Law and Order: Parking Enforcement Unit." I wrote the opening tag line already and everything, I'm not sure why it hasn't been picked up.

I can't believe someone actually took the time to do this, but at the same time, I can't believe it hadn't been done already, it is so blatantly necessary! All the extra links here are great too; this is why I still love MetaFilter.

Clever McSmartass annoys the hell out of me.

Me too. I prefer the honest plodding and street smarts of Briscoe & Logan to D'Onofrio's Sherlock-Holmes-In-A-Suit Overgrown-Encyclopedia-Brown routine. It's just easier to relate to.

Man this makes me miss the good ol' US of A. You kids don't know how lucky you are, here in Iceland, Law & Order is only on once a week. Friday nights at 9.

Needless to say, I miss a lot of parties.

Criminal Intent follows Scooby-Doo rules: cleverly trick the criminals into either a) getting caught red handed or b) confessing.

I think CI's crap, but I'm a huge fan of the original series and can stomach SVU.

Nice links, I love the random plot generator, intermod.

L & O Rules. CI is my favourite. I live in Australia so this site is no good to me. But L & O Rules.
