Just as Thievery Corporation's The Cosmic Game hits shelves, it's announced that acclaimed jazz vocalist Pam Bricker, long-time Thievery conspirator--and probably the best guest vocalist the D.C. duo has ever had--has passed. Chung's blog post mentions, "it was most likely suicide." Are there any MeFi'ers out there who can provide more information? Confirm? Disconfirm?

There's a story in yesterday's GW Hatchet (George Washington University student paper) with more info and a confirmation that it was a suicide. I was able to read the story online from a Google news link, but when I went to post the link it now requires registration (for free).

I spent an hour chatting with Pam backstage at a TC show in 2002 in San Francisco... she was so warm and kind and her fame with TC didn't seem to go to her head in the slightest. Lebanese Blonde, damn what a song. I'll really miss her voice.

Gareth Branwyn, ex-husband, has talked a little bit about it at his tech site, but in a private conference. I don't know how she chose to kill herself, but there were (obviously) problems with depression. It's just really sad, all around, and I feel bad for her young son.
