I'm trying to figure out why someone would a buy a (usually) rather expensive NFL jersey, only to customize it by putting "UPTHEBUTT" on the back. Whatever.

Wow, you just can't get a Carruth jersey anymore. Sheesh! (and yes, I know...)

That's stale - their list of banned phrases is growing - it's up to 1156 entries now.
(non-geeks should note that 0-1155 is 1156 unique entries)

One string they do allow is "sweatshop", unlike Nike.

I'm impressed that they spelled "balllicker" with three "l"s.

'HE HATE ME' classic. I wonder why the need for 50 variations on 'FUCK', why not just a blanket ban on the one word.

Regular expressions and the NFL don't mix.

GLAZED DONUT?!

I'm surprised that the people calling FARKfilter knew it was a FARK post in the first place. Is it like a "know your enemy by reading every one of their posts" kind of thing?

oh, and
is allowed.

god I shouldn't have done that. I repent already! please don't crucify me! I really don't want this to turn into a replica of the fark thread. I'm sorry sorry sorry sorry. flag the post or something if you want.

BM
BONER
BONG
BOOBIES

Four banned words in a row that very neatly and succinctly sum up my life. Neat!

I find it outrageously unfair that Alan Cumming cannot order a jersey with his own name on it.

Not to mention the lesser known but highly talented Bob Hussy.

For those of you who ever watched the XFL -- though admittedly I'm not even sure why I did -- "He Hate Me" is particularly funny.

What is "He Hate Me" from?

Man, the instant I started looking at this list, I knew HeHateMe was gonna be banned. Damn you, NFL! If I was gonna get an expensive personalized jersey, a HHM one would be close to the first thing I'd think about.

Odd that "tampon" and "Kotex" are on the list - has it really been such a problem with people ordering jerseys?!

we still can order one with 4nk8or ...

Poop! There goes my plan to get a football jersey with the phrase "Crackpipe Bulldyke" on it.

I am dissappointed my last name, Smagma, isn't allowed.

Oh well...he'll just have to console himself with his own personal fragrance. (Apparently for $69, natch.)

I'm surprised that the people calling FARKfilter knew it was a FARK post in the first place.

It's just that Fark is the place I go for boobie-poop jokes, and Slash-dot is where I go for web-techie crap, and LGF is where I go for political abuse-hate, and when I come here, I expect more (except for the political abuse part) , and am usually disapointed.

There's been a lot of poop threads lately.. OOhh, Bad Words and Football = Teh Funny!!

can someone explain what's 420 and why it's banned? Is it me or are there a lot of words that seem fine but are banned? Like G-Unit. It's just a popular rap group.
posted by pez_LPhiE at 12:39 PM on March 3, 2005

also, if they unbanned 'Gay' then shouldn't they unban 'lesbian'?
posted by pez_LPhiE at 12:41 PM on March 3, 2005

can someone explain what's 420 and why it's banned?

420 at urban dictionary. Basically, it's a pot reference.
posted by Dreama at 12:49 PM on March 3, 2005

also, G-unit is most likely a matter of ip infringment.

"GAY" Now Allowed on NFL Jerseys...(but) "you can't buy a Jets jersey with "TONGUE" on it, even though there is a Jets player named Reggie Tongue. This shows how dumb their filter is."
