Constable Peter Christopher Schiemann, 25; Constable Anthony Fitzgerald Orion Gordon, 28; Constable Lionide Nicholas Johnston, 28, and Constable Broack Warren Myrol, 29, four members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, were shot to death yesterday in what began as a raid on a marijuana growing operation ("grow-op") near the small Alberta town of Mayerthorpe.
The Force hasn't experienced a single-day violent loss of life like this since the Northwest Rebellion in 1885.
The killer, James Roszko, who also died, had a history of violence and was know to local law enforcement officers. His father, 80 and frail, said, "He is not my son. He is a wicked devil."
No argument here.

Sorry all. Maiden post. I didn't check the link's links, none of which seem to be linked to anything any more. My apologies. Googling the Royal Northwest Mounted Police, however, will turn up a pile of tales from their history.
