I found this description of site to be beautiful: Lovecraft's phantasm-haunted sensibility creates fun sparks when rubbed against Bil Keane's aw-shucks apple-pie sensibility. The clean cartoon lines are a semblance of order waiting to be violated by intimations of the fearfully glimpsed. If only all Internet parodies were so delicately nuanced. The cartoon collection is also delightful. Great post!

Keane has always been chilling. His scenarios are of the most grisly description, all the ghastlier because of their frightened reticence and cloudy evasiveness. And the characters... these children - surely a race of hereditary daemons beside whom Gilles de Retz and the Marquis de Sade would seem the veriest tyros. Truly macabre.

Perhaps the explanation for her hasty departure is more...sinister...than has been revealed. Perhaps her work drew attention, not from lawyers, but from...the others. I cannot say more.
