So the story as I understand it is that this guy (.mp3) is a manager for a Jack in the Box restaurant. He was on his way to a meeting, was running a little late and called in to leave a voicemail message. While he was leaving the message, he witnessed an auto accident and basically gives us play-by-play of the events. It's pretty entertaining, but I'm not sure if I completely believe it. Apparently it was quite the talk within the Jack in the Box family.

That man has the most annoying. laugh. EVER. It's gotta be fake. It's a brilliant marketing scheme on Jack N' The Box's part. And that's all I've got to say about that.

I have to vote real - how is it viral marketing if the company's name isn't mentioned anywhere in the audio? I liked it, if only for the mental image of that good ol' boy laughing so hard he's crying at some schmuck getting his ass kicked by a bunch of old ladies.

Yeah, I heard this on the radio about a month ago. The local radio station played it a couple times one morning. Kinda...annoying. Funny the first time though. Especially the part with the guy being beaten with the Bible.

I'm surprised by two things, which isn't to say I think it's fake:

1. That the voicemail system allowed such a long message
2. That he, I'd guess, pulled over to narrate this thing instead of driving by. Or, perhaps the accident blocked traffic. Peculiar.

It seems to me that if it was real you would hear some kind of background noise. You don't hear any street noises, the accident itself or the old ladies. It could be real but you'd think that you might hear something.

It's just that every time I hear this story, it's associated with the words "Jack In The Box". I got it through an email forward a couple of weeks ago with the whole spiel about the JITB employee etc. If it's not intentional, it sure is good free advertising!

Saw this on Goldenfiddle -- Whether it's real or not, I have to say it elicited the most disabling fit of laughter I think I've ever seen (out of my brother). I could have probably stolen his television and he would have been powerless to stop me.

i too heard this about a month ago on the nets... however, today on the "crazy morning radio show" i heard an appparent 911 call from a soccer mom who was pissed that burger king couldn't get her order right. it was kind of funny, but i have questions as to its posterity... ahhh... here it is on Snopes.

(that's the first time i've ever tried to tag something, it works! i am a genius.)
