Best Holiday

Today by far is my favorite holiday. It's the one day that webmasters get to be creative and do things that normally wouldn't fit with their sites general themes. For example, Google attempts a high tech way of quenching peoples thirsts, Wikipedia sells out to Britannica, a RFC is written on Morality, and much much more!

It was excellent, a great post, until those final two self-links.

Since it's not April Fool's here yet, off with your head. Sorry, nothing personal.

Well...we did link to him last year ... as he points out...

Sorry. Its my first FPP.. Someone else posted my site on mefi last year. I worked my butt off then to keep the page updated and will do the same this year. Each link is verified to make sure its real by me. Last years page had over 400 links.

Oh, and it is April Fools Day in most places by now. =]

True to form, Google is apparently using today to announce that they're adding another gigabyte of storage to Gmail. Hotmail and Yahoo have barely caught up to the first GB; if I worked for them, I'd be embarassed.

Best one I remember was that year K5 and MeFi launched a new site (M3t4Filter maybe?). I was only a kurobot then, but rusty got me.

Ohh... and I hate April 1st.

Because its only about size? Then I guess they should all be embarassed when faced by the Biker Search Engine and its 1TB(!) email storage. Right.

ermmm...the "you have new messages" link on the wikipedia one is NSFW!

Even better than the privacy policy is the answer to Q11 on the google gulp faq: 11. When will you take Google Gulp out of beta?

I'm too lazy to do anything this year, but I realized yesterday that the mefi bought by Google pages still work. I'll let this self-link go, but I took out the duplicate one and labelled the first one properly.

This one's an oldie but a goodie: religious leaders against daemons in OS X.

Actually, I'll just lose the self-link. Feel free to post links to them here or go to urgo's site if you must.

Actually, the size of my account has been increasing along with the counter for little over an hour now. Gotta love Gmail.

I just checked and my free Yahoo account (which I never use) and it shows 2 gigs available space. FWIW. Disclosure: my ISP is SBC/Yahoo.

I put my ring finger in Clive’s mouth and he put his ring finger in my mouth with our teeth resting right on the last joint. We looked in each other’s eyes, nodded, and bit down as hard as we could. It was a little disappointing because we couldn’t actually get all the way through, but we did pop the joint open and tear it a little. We cut the rest, just some skin and the tendon, the normal way

Ewww - glider, I *really* didn't want to have to read that... so I'll share it with everyone. Nasty. :-)

Other than that, it's all pretty funny stuff!

This is a priceless dig at the autolink controversy:

5. Well, shouldn't Auto-Drink™ be default-off?

You mean we should cripple a perfectly useful feature just because of a little bad PR?

6. Yes.

Okay.

(from the FAQ for Google Gulp).

a_day_late, if you have SBC/Yahoo as your ISP, you get a free upgrade to the Mail Plus account, which is $20/year for everyone else. The free ones for someone unaffiliated are still only 250 MB, going up to 1 GB "soon".
