ugh, rap. i didn't even think rap artists used that word anymore. i thought it's been "hip-hop" since the late 90s. i was a PE, KRS kind a fan for a while, but nothing serious. i haven't missed it much.

i was a PE, KRS kind a fan for a while Me too, but I'll add NWA to that. Amazingly enough, hip-hop hasn't really progressed at all from those days. Public Enemy's late 80s early 90s stuff is still the most outrageously good hip hop in terms of sheer creativity, ingenuity and message that's ever been done. The latest stuff, the 50-cent gangsta bullcrap and R Kelly insipid "nu R&B" is just plain embarassing, compared to how good the genre was 15 years ago. /geezer rant

The offer is serious, Maven Strategies is the company that will help McD find rappers that can do it. Last year Maven managed to get Seagram's mentioned in a few songs and Petey Pablos Freek-a-leek was the No. 2 hip-hop song of the year, in it he spits: Now I got to give a shout out to Seagram's Gin/Cause I'm drinkin' it and they payin' me for it.
