This makes drunken karaoke seem merciful. (is one of the singers mentally handicapped?)

*flushes with European pride*

That's the second best use of the song since Season Two of The Office when Brent uses it to climax his business seminar 'gig'. [In looking for a clip of that, I just stumbled upon this roboanimitronic Brent as well]

Context?

I thought maybe something funny or redeeming would develop, like with the Swedish band that starts singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" somewhat painfully and then rocks out on kitchen appliances, but it didn't. Don't bother.

a WORLD of DWEEMS!

Wonderful. Can anyone offer any context? What team (German?)

We respect your privacy, don't worry. Your video will only show up [in their top ten lists] if it has received more than 200 hits and is within the top 10 most popular uploads for the time period. So if you are uploading sentimental or private content then you don't have to worry about it showing up here.
Memo to self: re-consider posting web-cam footage of last make-out session with goat.

Dutch, from their Pop Idols. Here's a longer clip (13mb, 4m51s) where they talk a bit before (in Dutch). Yes, your ears will bleed if you listen to it again.

I assumed this was green-screened. This is real?

Also, are we bad people for watching? I think each singer is actually mentally disabled.

Thank G-d there's no embarressing clips of Americans doing anything like this!

quiet: Holy crap! I honestly thought these kids were mentally disabled. I was about to post how disappointed I was that MeFi had lowered itself to making fun of the handicapped.

How did this come about? Was this the Dutch equivalent of when Simon bets horrible contestants who refuse to believe they are horrible that if they sing in public people will hate them?

Wager? Horrible practical joke?

It's like a Village People of Napoleon Dynamite characters. There's the guy dressed like a cowboy, the fat gay activist, the "dark" metal dude, a retarded kid, a kid with a speech impediment, and a few who sound like they are genuinely deaf (at first, I thought it was celebrating how these deaf kids learned how to sing even though they can't hear).

I like the ad on top for software that allows you to "record this video". In fact I like it so much, I feel compelled to offer this Firefox fun tip, if anyone wants to save this, and didn't know how:

Tools>Page Info>Media

Scroll through the list, highlight the file (usually type "embed") and click the little old "Save As" button in the corner.

A lifetime of pwomises and dweams.

Alternatively, PinkStainlessTail, you could rightclick the image, copy the property name, and paste that into a new address bar -- which then downloads the video.

Safe and secure this site is not.

On a lighter note, my husband plays an RPG, complete with mic and headset and a whole group of guys whose partners are *also* RPG widows :), so I just busted up laughing when I watched the third film deemer linked ... when your husband regularly says things to you like, "hold on, honey: I can't hear you cause there are too many voices in my head", then you can well imagine what it be like to have some guy's snore be one of those voices.
