Mendocino County, CA legalizes growth of marijuana for personal use.

Hooray! This is a step in the right direction.

It's good to see progress. There was talk of decriminalising small amounts of pot in Australia, but i haven't heard anymore about it, time for some research.

Yeah, well, its still illegal. You can't just ignore national laws. I can't cite any in specific, but there's got to be one against mary jane growth somewhere.

Well, the DEA (and other LE agencies, I suppose) cracks down pot groups and Reno stated something to the effect that any doctor prescribing medical marijuana would be prosecuted. This was after Oregon passed their medical marijuana initiative. Perhaps her stance has changed.

Frankly, that borders on tyranny. An arguement that pot affects national security would be tenuous at best.

On the other hand, I would’ve voted against it.

The DEA's life will probably be a bit more difficult if they can't get cooperation from local police. As I understand it, if marijuana is legal in Mendocino County, the sheriff's department is not obliged to help find or prosecute.

Maybe I'm wrong.

I'd really like to know how personal growth and use of marijuana in Mendocino has anything to do with "interstate commerce."

I think it would be fun if all kinds of people, non-pot-smokers included, started carrying around bags of leaves on them, openly. You know, oregano and whatnot.

Just jam the system with tons of bullshit cases where there is no pot, just oregano, so no laws broken. Except maybe by the cops, ha ha ha (wrongful arrest, etc). That oughtta tie up the system and keep 'em busy for awhile.
