Yes I am an idiot bloviating "that it doesn’t matter whether or not you vote or, worse yet, that not voting is a viable option." There was negligence in our voting process. Perhaps not just in Florida. Perhaps there was even voting fraud here. So long as such blatant partisanship and misuse of power exists, any one voter's vote is irrelevant and therefore laughable.
I've heard that that Bush plans to take women's voting rights away, bring slavery back in and destroy the economy, simply because it's too long of a word. posted by tiaka at 8:35 PM on November 8, 2000
To Dubya, vote is a four letter word. Intelligence is a four letter word. Any word is a four letter word.
Saw a documentary recently which said back in college, Dubya was writing an essay about his emotional response to a bad experience he had. In the essay he had used the word "tears" like twelve times, and towards the end he wanted a different word. His mom gave him a thesaurus before he left for college (she had to tell him how to use it) and he looked up "tears" in the thesaurus. He wrote in his essay something like, "..and the lacerates went down my face."

"How can I write a column about what happened in this presidential election when, late the morning after, we still don’t know who won?"
Oooh, poor reporter, might actually have to work for a change. How in the world did people ever survive back before the advent of television and instant polling? posted by kindall at 12:23 AM on November 9, 2000
People who vote on charisma should reconsider voting because they are idiots. posted by terrapin at 11:21 AM on November 9, 2000
kindall, what do you mean? He should "work" and find out who won even when the rest of the country doesn't know? I'm writing an election article for my school newspaper and am faced with the same dilemma. posted by kidsplateusa at 12:52 PM on November 9, 2000
Kidsplate, I think he means that the reporter has a huge story to write a column about. Why does it have to be about who won? A lot more interesting stuff happened during this election than in any I can remember.
All I know is that I couldn't sleep Tuesday night, not because I watching the results but the recurring nightmare I was having of little Georgie "what does the pretty red button do, Daddy?" nightmares.
BTW, does anyone know what the Vegas odds were on the election? posted by tj at 2:15 PM on November 9, 2000
