So, can *you* tell the difference between "real" and "CG"? :-) Some of these are amazing - I recall looking through the Hubble pix ages ago, but forgot how good some of them are. And seanyboy - good call! :-)

The early Hubble pics completely changed the way I visualized space. I woke my mother at 4 am (she had to work that day, too) to look at them. 15 years later, they still blow my mind. At first, Hubble was a laughingstock. Now, we take it for granted, and the politicians want to kill it.

Thanks Peacay for those links. Beautiful images indeed and worldchanging also. Another interested source is NASA's Astronomy picture of the day Technology (scientific imaging) allows to take images from the macrocosm (space) and images from the microcosm (infinitely small). Those images are giving us a description of reality that our eyes could not envision a few years earlier. I think that scientific imaging is bringing about a revolution in the visual arts and by the same token shaping the worldview of our postmodern world. Take a look at these sites and you'll see the full meaning of my words. I'd like to call attention in particular to HubbleSite's wallpapers. Some beautiful pics there. My current wallpaper is the Sombrero Galaxy (M104) but I've used a couple others from the site before.
