I highly recommend the MONA if you have a free afternoon wandering around downtown LA. It only takes a couple of minutes to look around, and there are some fantastic pieces of Americana and new neon artworks to oogle. Very very cool.

You know, as a died in the wool New Yorker, I really always wanted to hate everything about LA, but whenever I go there I find so new bugged out/decayed/accidental bit of art to be amazed by. It's an intensely American city in a way that others aren't. I guess it's because LA is such a new (while still being old, in an Art Deco, fedora and fins on cars kinda way) city, relatively speaking. This is cool, it makes me want to reread "Ask the Dust" by Fante.
