Theatre by the Sea

Cornwall's Minack theatre. Perched on the cliffs at the SouthWestern tip of the UK, the Minack offers the chance to see classic theatre with a spectacular natural backdrop. The open-air theatre was originally conceived by Rowena Cade in the 1930s, and she was also personally responsible for much of the construction of the facilities that still exist. The pictures and 360 panoramas available here should give you some idea of the place. A few more here.

The Minack's one of the most astonishingly beautiful places to watch a theatre production of - well, just about anything. It's an incredible place.

But for the love of god, bring a big cushion and a very warm coat.

Thanks for that - I'm visiting near there soon and wouldn't have known about it - it looks stunning.

Pleasure alfhild, I moved down here a few months ago and have been keeping an eye out for decent websites about local area and history. Good ones may turn into further FPPs.

I went to a performance there about five years ago. Shakespeare seems so much more alive when the atlantic ocean is part of the set. A wonderful place. I second the advice about a warm coat, even in July.
